Crab Cakes

These are a quick and crowd-pleasing meal. My grocery store sells fresh crab meat in 8 oz. containers. Two of these gives me 8 patties.


  • 1 lb crab claw meat
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp gluten-free flour
  • 3 tbsp red bell pepper, minced
  • 3 tbsp green onions, minced
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 tbsp butter (for frying)


  1. Heat a heavy frying pan over medium heat. If you happen to have a pan with some left-over bacon grease sitting around in it, this is a great chance to use it up.
  2. Spread the crab meat out in a large bowl, and add the remaining ingredients (except for the butter.) Stir gently.
  3. When the oil is nice and hot, take a 1/3 c. measure, and fill it with the mixture. Dump this out into your hand, and flatten gently, and place it in the oil. This mixture should make 8 patties just about perfectly.
  4. Flip the patties when they're golden brown on the bottom, and cook the other side. Serve with lemon juice or with tartar sauce.
